This course is for science and engineering researchers who are;

  • interested in entrepreneurship
  • are thinking about commercialising research
  • are at the very start of their commercialisation journey

What are the dates for the upcoming course?

Our next BSF course will be held from 1 - 30 Oct 2020 with our partner universities. This is an application based programme for 12 successful applicants, please submit your application before the deadline: 11:59pm GMT 1 August 2020. You will be notified of your application outcome no later than 1 September 2020. The programme is run in sprints of 1 week over a course of 4 weeks. Each sprint consists of a live virtual workshop-lecture, interactive exercises and a target outcome. We continue the conversation and exercises during the course through our shared community channel. Session 1: 2 Oct 10 - 1130am GMT Session 2: 9 Oct 10 - 1130am GMT Session 3: 16 Oct 10 - 1130am GMT Session 4: 23 Oct 10 - 1130am GMT Session 5: 30 Oct 1:1 deep dive sessions (optional)

How much time am I expected to commit for this course?

The course requires a commitment of about 10-15 hours over 4 weeks. With every live session you will gain the clarity, confidence and plan for your entrepreneurial journey. Please note that your application is a commitment to participate fully in the course if accepted.

What is your criteria for selecting participants?

If you are a Postdoc from a science and engineering department from one of our partner universities and are actively interested in understanding what it takes to be a successful founder then all you need to do is tell us why you are interested in taking this course and what you are hoping to gain from it. There are only 16 spots for this course and we would expect you to participate 100% if accepted into the programme. Please apply before the application deadline 11:59pm GMT, 1 August 2020. You will be notified of your application outcome no later than 1 September 2020.

How will the course be delivered?

In 4 weeks, this course emulates the startup process from evaluating the commercial potential of research, forming a team, building an investable proposition to fund raising. This course will be delivered through live virtual sessions delivered by seasoned entrepreneurs, investors and operators with plenty of room for interaction with your teammates in between online and offline. Please note this is not a self-paced course. If accepted into the program you are expected to be all in as that's the only you'll gain the most out of the course.
