What is your criteria for selecting participants?

If you are a Postdoc from a science and engineering department from a European research institution and are actively interested in exploring what it takes to be a science entrepreneur then all you need to do is tell us why you are interested in joining this class and what you are hoping to gain from it. We have designed the course in a manner that optimizes learning in a close-knit environment. As such, there are limited spaces for this course, and if accepted into the programme we would expect you to participate 100%. Please apply before the application deadline 11:59pm GMT, 27 June 2021, the earlier you apply the better.

How will the course be delivered?

This course emulates the process of building a venture within 4 weeks. From evaluating the commercial potential of your research to articulating your value proposition, building your team, framing an investable proposition and dealing with key stakeholders such as customers and investors. This course is delivered by seasoned entrepreneurs, investors and operators through live virtual sessions with a platform to interact with your teammates online and offline. Please note this is not a self-paced course. If accepted into the program you are expected to be all in as that's the only way you'll gain the most out of the course!

Is there a cost associated with joining BSF?

There's a £125 fee to join the BSF class which in many cases can be reimbursed by your department or grant body, you will also have the opportunity to self-fund. Why are you doing this?

We believe that science is the solution to all the core challenges we face today and will drive fundamental improvements to human + planetary health for the rest of this century. Scientists will be at the forefront of this change. Our experience shows us that if the right pillars are placed at the earliest of stages, we are able to empower scientists to become effective business leaders. Skills is the catalyst, putting you in control of your research and therefore of your entrepreneurial potential.

What happens once I graduate?

Successful participants who complete the entire course graduate as BSF Fellows with ongoing access to all Wilbe resources and a growing community of science entrepreneurs, operators and investors.
